Anxiety

Post-Partum Depression and Anxiety New Mother

  • Are you a anxious about things that might happen
  • Are you constantly worrying about what you will do with your life, or if the plans you made don’t work out
  • Are you scared to leave the house feeling how you feel?
  • Are you nervous about the future and what’s to come?
  • Is your significant other or other family members say something has changed about you?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, it may be time to talk to someone.

Mountainside Counseling offers anxiety counseling for those who struggle to keep their mind quiet about the future it’s predicting for them. A lot of times people struggling with anxiety have a hard time communicating to people who have never had it what it is like.

Anxiety can show up at any time. Often late at night making it hard to go to sleep, or right when you are about to walk into work/school/or a social event. It can paralyze you from being able to do the things you used to be able to do with ease.

Anxiety can creep up on us to where we start to feel it and we are unsure why. That in itself is stressful, and then we start becoming stressed about us being stressed about something we don’t know why.

We can sit with you in a confidential and warming environment to address these issues. Often after a new baby we feel isolated, belittled, and not taken seriously. Laura Moulton M.A., LPC, NCC is someone who understands. Anxiety to perform, or be liked by people round us, or to feel like maybe we will be enough for someone we love or want to love us, can leave us feeling alone and drained at the end of the day.

What You Can Expect

Mountainside Counseling offers counseling in Loveland to learn productive techniques and skills to help manage your anxiety.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can be especially useful in helping with post-partum anxiety. It is a method used to help address conscious thought about a particularly stressful situation. It teaches how to change thoughts that are constantly haunting you. Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) is also used to look at the best and worst case scenarios in any given anxiety or panic attack.

Mountainside Counseling will provide exercises to take home and use outside of the therapy room during stressful situations that can trigger anxiety attacks. Grounding techniques as well as dialectical behavioral therapy approaches are often used to help mitigate anxiety heading into a stressful situation.
